Iron Infusion therapy is used to treat iron deficiency anemia. Blood tests (CBC, iron/IBC, ferritin, Transferrin saturation) must be completed within 10 days of receiving an iron infusion to assess for need. Iron is necessary for your bone marrow to build healthy new red blood cells and provide oxygen to your organs and tissues. Women with heavy menstrual periods are prone to iron deficiency anemia. Common symptoms are paleness, unusual shortness of breath, feeling tired and/or achy, rapid heart beat, cold(er) hands and feet,and/or frequent headaches.
